Default 09 5.3 Exhaust

I just bought an '09 5.3 crewcab and am looking for an exhaust that has a deep, or "throaty", clean sound, but I am not looking for something very loud. I talked to a couple of performance places but they both just reccommended Flowmaster or Magnaflow and didn't seem to be very knowelageable. Any suggestions or reccommendations for a good sounding set-up that isn't too loud? Thanks...

The problem is 'isn't too loud' is subjective. What's fine with me, may be too loud for you.

I just had cat back duals installed using a Flowmaster 40 Series Deltaflow muffler. Louder than stock? Oh yea. It sounded really loud when I first started the truck when I picked it up at the muffler shop. Almost too loud. But it's grown on me and I like it now.

Flowmaster makes a number of mufflers, with varying sound levels. If you want less noise, use one of their 3 chamber mufflers.

BTW, listening to sound clips on the Internet were of zero help.

Glasspacks are nothing but loud, bro.

Personally, I'd recommend Borla Touring exhaust. I think you'd love it.

Maybe look into a DNA muffler for the truck... I put the "truck" model on my Blazer, and it sounds good, and isn't much louder than stock... Unless you really jump on it, then it's a decent bit louder, probably comparable in volume to my bosses '07 VortecMAX.

Behind the V8, it'll definitely be a little louder than it is in my Blazer, but I don't think by much...

You need to check on your warranty. It may be voided by certain exhaust system changes.

I recommend Flowmaster. I have 40s on all three of my vehicles.

Was going to go with a strait pipe on my 04 Chevy SSR, however the guy at the muffler shop told me the Flowmaster 40 had a deep sound. I put it on today, it sounds great.. Not too lould, just right. Cost me 130.00 installed.. I dont see a reason to go with the cat back system. Change the muffler and you get the same results.
