Just got a new truck, 2009 1500, 4 door 4x4. On my old 2001 chevy (also with the 5.3) i had true dual straights and i loved them (the louder the better).

i looked at my new trucks exhaust today and there are 2 weird looking components on the exhaust pipe after the converters. What are these for? How would it effect putting true dual straights? Thanks in advance.

 

Unless there was any wiring of some sort coming from then ( which i highly doubt), then there probably just silencers. Just cut it off and do as you would with any other vehicle.
