1995 silverado transmission trouble
Hello. This is my first post in this forum. This is the first Chevrolet truck (silverado 5.0L extended cabin automatic with what i believe is a 4L60e)i ever own so i really dont know much about them.so to my problem When i start the engine and put in in gear it runs fine for anywhere 5 to 10 minutes and then nothing no neutral, reverse or any gear.If i turn the car off for a minute or so it works again.i checked the fluid an is not super clean but is not too bad and it doesn't smell burn.Any ideas?.Any leads will be appreciated. Also i been reading numerous post saying that the transmission for my truck is year specific.

Yes, the transmissions are year specific, so you have to find a trans that is compatible with your year. As for the problem, are you getting any codes? I can't help but think this is a computer or sensor problem...
Thank you for your quick respond.i got a couple of leads ill be trying today.Do you know what transmission are compatible with this truck? or where i can find the info.i will try to pull my codes later.
I change the ignition wiring thinking that might be the problem but no,still same thing when i first start it shift fine in all gears and after a few minutes, nothing completely off like disconnected, there was a clicking coming from the tranny after the first time i started and a very faint rubbing noise after it stop working and i turn it off and on.I read the code and i only got code 12.I will change the fluids tomorrow and see if that help.any help would be appreciated.Thank you.
i drop the pan and it was full of shaving and a couple of chunks so im getting it rebuild. If i installed the wrong ignition switch wiring could that be what cause my tranny to fail?i know the 1995 is a stand alone year.Thank you for all the help.
