I have a white 1998 Chevrolet Z71 4X4 and I keep hearing this grinding noise as soon as I take off from a complete stop then it goes away after about a 100 ft or so. Then I can also hear the noise right before I come to a complete stop. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it might be. I got my ball joints replaced about 4 months ago so I do not believe that is what it is.

 

Wheres the noise coming from in relation to the vehicle? Engine trans rearend? Can you get an idea of the location?
