have you checked the strainer screen on the pump itself? The zone will put a scanner on it for free and this should tell you if it is a sensor.

I havea '00 2500 and have gone through 3 fuel pumps. I finally got the lowdown from the mechanic and he said that Chevy doesn't want to admit it or do a recall, but the pump that they put in on the '00 model was a bad choice. He said that Chevy's with that model of pump have been in and out of the shops constantly (I don't know what the model was on the pump). I finally had them install an aftermarket pump and haven't had any issues since. 2 times it went gradually. When it gradually went out, some of the signs were hard to start or would die at a stoplight.

98 with the 5.7 and I thought I had a bad pump. Checked at the dealer on getting a new one and the parts guy said he doesn't sell many now or back in the day. Picked up a fuel pressure gage for like $25 at napapep a zone and it said it was fine.
The "loud" 15 to 20 sec run after key off seems normal for these years. Replace the filter yourself and get the injectors cleaned by a pro.

A lot of OEM parts are farmed out to the lowest bidder.

Buy a quality name brand you trust. If you do it online, you'll save about 25%.

Thread search this topic. I'm not posting that whole thing again.
