Default 1999 5.3 loss of gas milage

Four tanks of gas ago my milage dropped from 16-17 mpg down to 10mpg. tookit to a shop they replaced the fan clutch said that uses a lot of power. Two tanks of gas later I'm still only getting 11 MPG. Had it back ib the shop today they put it on the scanner and said everything looks real good. I need better than 11 miles per gallon out of my truck. Ahy ideas? Thanks for any ideas inadvance.

Is the tire pressure correct? #1 offender for decreased gas mileage. #2 Is improper engine temp. You may want to replace the t-stat, make sure it is the correct/original temperature. Just because some guy looked at a scanner and said everything looks OK it does not mean he really knows what he is looking at.

Did you put bigger tires on it, or anything? Thats a big drop in mileage!
