Default 1999 autolocking doors disbale

I'm new here and have tried to get info on how to disable the autolocking doors on my truck. I have a 1999 1500 z71 and have called the dealer where I bought it and they tell me they do not know how to do it. Now I have read on other forumsthat people have taken there truck in to the dealer to get this done for them. They have it done but never know how to do it. Does anyone have an idea. I know take it to the dealer, but I do not want to spend the 125.00 an hr to get it done. Any help would be great. I'm a firefighter and think this is a very unsafe option, an just a pain in the but. If it would unlock when I put it in park I would have no problem with it, but it stays locked and you have to hit the unlock every time you stop to get out. Let me know.

Take a look in your owners manual.. I have a 2000 z71 and i know in my book it shows how to do it... I guess it really don't bother me so i just opted to leave it alone.. i do wish i could get it to unlock when i shift to park instead of when i pull the key. I know the newer trucks do this but i don't think this will or will it????

Wow, did not know that's how they worked. Mine is a 2002 and it locks when taken out of park and unlocks once placed back into park. You can manually unlock when in gear and it will re-lock upon reaching 20mph

In my manual it tells me that I have to call a dealer. I have called 5 of them and they all say they never heard of a disable and they would check on it. The dealer that I bought it at tells me that I will have to bring it in to check it out for me. This all at a great price of 125.00 an hour LOL. They all have us by the short hairs and that is way I asked it here. I know it can be done do to other people having it done by a dealer, but no one ever knows what they did. From what I have been told buy the dealer it is just a sequence that you do like turn the key 6 times, step on the brake 10 times, rub you head, and right finger and it is done.,
