I have a 2000 Z-71 and was wondering if the front driveshaft is supposed to turn in 2WD. Mine turns but doesn't engage the front wheels until placed in 4WD(push button). My company truck is an 05' silverado with the manual 4x4 shifter and the driveshaft does'nt turn on it in 2WD. The reason this come up is I pin-pointed a chirping sound I had while driving to the front driveshaft u-joint. Don't think it should turning in 2WD. Stuck accuator perhaps? Any help would be appreiciated.

 

i have 2004 silverado with the autotrac electric hubs my axles turn also when in 2wd i believe that gm adopted a new 4x4 system in 2005
