Default 2001 Chev Silverado intermittent start.

My Silverado has 69000kms on it. Recently it runs as though there is am alternator issue, stalling, lower rpms and failure to stay running. I turn it off and the next morning it's fine and runs like it should. It'll be symptom free for a couple of weeks and then the problem will present again. The battery is putting out 12 volts and maintaining charge. Last week I went to start it and when I turned the key the speedo needle jumped to full speed, instrument lights came on and then it was like someone disconnected the battery and everything died. It was complete electrical failure, no horn, no remote door locks, and no effort to start. I tried all the usual culprits and changed the ignition switch as I had a suspicion it was that. It started and ran like normal until last night when it did the same thing.

I've been told it may be a relay or sensor, but am at a loss. I disconnected battery for a few minutes and reconnected it and it started, but now I am uneasy when going anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated!

Have you scanned it for any codes? Also which engine do you have?

No codes to scan and the engine is the 5.3 V8.

There can be codes stored in a module without illuminating the MIL. Not sure if you're aware of that, just saying.

Check your battery cables at both ends for good solid connections and no corrosion. Your symptoms sound like a bad connection.
