Im looking at a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd with a 5.3 liter engine. The truck has 225,000 miles on it. is it worth 4 grand? new exhaust, new water pump. has a few minor leaks underneath, is this a good deal?

 

Drive it, put it in 4wd and see if it works, is the body in good condition? Is it original trans/rear end/ motor?

 

Body is good 4Wd works it's not new but for 11 years old it's not bad. I have an 08 Dodge Ram Megacab 5.7L with 83K and I got it new 3 years ago so the miles are going at the same pace as mine but I know what has been done to mine. This has most of the service records so I feel good about it. And yes everthing is Orig.

 

If you feel good about it and it drives good with no problems then go for it. The motors will last forever with proper maintenance, the trans is a little different story unless its been taken care of too
