I got a 2001 silverado extended cab w/ a 5.3 Vortec in it....every once in a while when I pull up to a stop sign or traffic light, then engine will cut off. It always starts right back up and will run fine...I replaced the fuel filter and checked the plugs...It is not a severe problem at the time, but it is a bit of an anoyance...Thank you

Unplug the vacuum hose going into the fuel pressure regulator on the top driver side fuel-rail, if gasoline drips from the end of the hose then the fuel pressure regulator is faulty and should be changed.

9 times out of 10 this is the cause for stalling such as you describe.

I unplugged the the hose w/ both the engine off and the engine running....there is a good vaccum on the hose and no fuel leaked either time....

Check fuel pressure. Could be a fuel pump going south. Or TU.

With that many miles you may want to try going to Costco or Sam Club and purchasing a 4-pack of Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner (16oz bottles) with Techron for $9.95

Go to the gas pump and add all 4 bottles to your fuel tank then top it off with gas and drive it till it is near empty before you refuel.
