My nieghbor and I have been trying to figure out what the knocking and tapping is coming from the flywheel/torque converter area. Thought it was the motor for a long time. All bolts on flywheel are tight. Flywheel wobbles though, as you watch it when running. Knock is not all the time, but on most occasions it will sound off. Any problems with these? 6.0 liter, auto, 200,000 miles.

 

It is possible that the flywheel is broken or cracked around the bolts holes (to the crank shaft) only way to be sure would be to pull the trans back. How much does it wobble? alot? or just slightly?

 

We did find out it was a crack in the flywheel.
