Default 2001 Silverado lifter noise?

I've got a 2001 silverado extended cab with a 4.8L, I've had it for a couple of weeks now and I notice first thing in the morning when I start it I can hear the lifters for a couple of minutes. Is this a sign of a bad oil pump or something?

Just traded my 2000 Silverado X cab, 233,000 miles. I had the same issue for at least 100,000 miles. If I did not let it idle a few minutes it sounded pretty bad on acceleration, but always quieted after several minutes.

&lt\\;P&gt\\;it’s infamous &quot\\;morning sickness&quot\\;. most likely you have pushrod engine, and it’s a typical noise. GMC says not to worry. use better oil, it quenches the noise quite well. &lt\\;/P&gt\\;
&lt\\;P&gt\\;oh, and welcome to the club. we have so called &quot\\;clunkers&quot\\; - trucks that make more noises than driving. i am really sorry i lost that 6 page GM &quot\\;scientific&quot\\; explanation on why all of those noises are &quot\\;normal&quot\\; on their trucks. fun to read.&lt\\;IMG src=&quot\\;https://chevroletforum.com/image/s13...gt\\;&lt\\;IMG src=&quot\\;https://chevroletforum.com/image/s2....&lt\\;/P&gt\\;

I have an 01 Silverado, same noise at start upwhen I bought it, and even now at over 150k. My moms 01 impala and my stepdads 97 S-10 still does the same thing. GM says it's no problem, and that nothing can be done to correct it.

ok, now that they fixed the site: it is normal situation for GM pushrod engines. it's morning sickness - noise from lifters before they get filled with oil.
