Default 2003 silverado aftermarket radio harness?

Just dropped close to 200 dollars on the best single din Bluetooth radio I could find.. Also got a really nice dashkit. I was going to wire it in until research revealed these trucks blow airbags randomly and lose functions on the DIC such as oil life and such if the radio is removed. I'm not too concerned about the chimes and I don't have bose, steering wheel control, or OnStar. I'm still making payments on this truck but I can't stand listening to talk shows which is all we get here in South Dakota. Is there a module I can buy to allow auxillary inputs or a box to adapt the radio without toasting my baby?

Hey Scottsdale,

I had an 04 1500 silverado and 05 silverado 2500. I put an aftermarket radio in each vehicle and never blew an airbag or had the "idiot" lights go crazy. Its all simple plug and play. from your factory radio harness you'll need the gm harness adapter and then you'll wire the aftermarket radio harness into the harness adapter.

Haven't heard about the blowing air bag thing but I do know that without the right interface then yes you will lose warning chimes, turnsignal indicator tics, and possible false warning lights. You should be able to find a decent Metra or PAC Audio interface for about a c-note.

I was told there is no ignition wire just a data bus wire? Is thus true?

I don't recall if there is a data bus wire or not. I ran a jumper from the brown wire in my ignition to the red power wire so that the radio would come on when you turn the key to accessory instead of power on or starting the vehicle.
