2004 Silverado
2004 Silverado,4x4, 5.3. While taking off cold in the morning you can feel the engine surging while idling down the road in drive. After it warms up the surge is still there in the idle mode but not as severe. Runs good while driving or towing, but definite surging while idling along in drive. One code reader showed an intermittent miss on # 6 cyl. Any ideas out there? Thanx for any help.
I'll give it a try this weekend. Doesn't really feel like a miss, its a pretty consistent and even surge. And it isn't as bad after it warms up. But I'm an electrician, not a mechanic. Changing plugs and wires won't hurt . Thanx
The 1st thing I would do is clean the air intake. Very common for the air intake to become dirty and cause driveabilty problems like you are talking about. You can get a can of air intake cleaner at a auto parts store for less than $10. Follow directions on the can. Simple to do. And is something you should do from time to time anyway. You will be surprised how beneficial it can be. If it doesnt fix your problem then start looking at plug wire and etc...
