Does anyone own a 2005 with the duramax engine, that has 2 two thousand miles or more on it . I own a 2500HD and it currently has 2900 miles and has a terrible knocking, ticking noise that sounds like the engine is about to sling apart at 2000 rpm. GM is telling me this is a natural characteristic of the diesel motor.

 

Donnie, I have a 2004 Duramax with 35000 miles and it started doing the same thing about a month ago. Now it is showing white smoke sometimes when I leave a light, at first I thought it was because it was cold out but now it does it at 80 degrees. I was told that I might have water in the fuel,I drained the filter and it took some of the rattle away but it comes back after a couple days. I just can not get off work to get it to the dealer yet maybe next week. Let me know what you come up with.
