Default 2005 transmision

I have a 2005 Silverado 4x4 that needs a new transmission or the current rebuild. The question that I have is will a 4l60e out of a 2007 silverado bolt up to my truck. I found one that is not a bad price, but I don't want to through my money away either.

What is wrong with the current transmission? It is usually cheaper to repair what you have.

Is reverse rock solid? Or is it non-existent also?

The common component between 2nd and 4th is the band. They sell for about $38.......

However, if this truck was in my shop, I'd really look hard at the problematic reverse input shell, as it works in 2nd, 4th and drives reverse.
This thing sells for $48 and has been an issue since 1982.

The hardest part of this repair is (1) getting the transmission out of the truck and (2) separating the bell housing from the transmission.

Just my 2¢,

Allan

I am not positive but here is my 2 cents on it. I don't know how you are getting this transmission but I would look into making sure because I know the 07 went to a six speed in the 5.3 (maybe not all of them so look into that). Next thing is the harnesses, the wiring harness might be different for the 07 than your truck.

Now having said that, I still think it can be done if you want to put the work into it. If that sucker will bolt up and connect through having to change up the connectors, then all you have to do is get it reprogrammed for the six speed that I think it is.
