Smile 2006 Cabin Air Filter

Can someone tell me if the truck has one and where to find it. I've looked under the passenger side dash but couldn't find it. Did I over look it?

Your truck should have 2 filters. They are under the dash on the right side. You have to remove the plastic cover to access a plate to get to the filters. It's kind of hard to see in that area so a trick is to undo the screws on the right side but leave the one in the center loose enough, but do not take it out completely. That way it is easier to reinstall everything.

Just a quick note. What model do you have and engine? The reason I ask is I was having a conversation last night with a friend who is also a mechanic and part of the discussion centered on Chevy's full size trucks. He mentioned that Chevy discontinued putting cabin air filters in their full size trucks in 2003 as standard equipment, ( now I don't know if that means you could still get it as an option, as i seem to remember the truck I replaced them in referenced in my first post was a 2006 model year. ) Some catalogs list a cabin filter for 2006 while others do not. I'm not sure if htere is another way to tell if your truck does have them other than removing the panel I outlined previously. I don't know if what my friend says is fact and if it was an option that year, and if so was there an option code(RPO code) on the SPID sticker for this. If so it would make life easier to the owner before they go tearing into their ventilation system only to discover they do not have one. So don't be alarmed if you do look to replace them and they aren't there.

Its an LT 5.3

-Fram says they carry a cabin filter for it but maybe its for a specific trim package. The manual mentions nothing about it however neither does my HHR manual and that one is in the glove box.
