OK, i have a Vortec V6 Chevy Silverado.. Im looking to put a dual exhaust on it. I've heard mixed opinions on this subject but i wanna do it seeing as how im gonna have the truck for a while and wanna make it a cool truck and not just stock crap on it. Im looking into the super 44 flowmaster as my muffler and having a muffler shop here do the rest. what im wanting to know is what do yall recommend for the inlet outles size for it. im leaning toward the 2.5 in and 2.5 out.. i want the single in and dual out.. any advice is greatly appreciated..

that sounds real good. havent heard a super 44 on a 6 banger but im sure it will make it sound good. um depending on how loud you want it, there are a couple different ways to do this. u can go out between the rear tires it will be kind of loud and it could get kind of loud inside too. if being loud inside doesnt bother you and you want it to be louder outside i recommend keeping the pipes underneath the truck, and instead of dumping them down turn them up at an angle so the sound bounces off the bottom of the bed and it makes a pretty good rumble. straight out the back is pretty loud and its alot quieter inside. hope this helps... let me know what you end up doing...

ok i have one more quick question, how do i measure my inlet pipe size.. i used a caliper on it and up and down it says 2.00 but side to side its like 2.5.. almost like its on oval...does anyone know the exact measurement on it so i dont screw up and put on the wrong size and end up f*ckin my engine up over a stupid mistake.

Take it to a muffler shop and let them figure it out. Ive never heard of putting diffrent size pipes on a truck then what was stock, and had it mess anyones engine up. People do that all the time. Just the other day I helped my friend install an SLP loudmouth catback on his Transam WS6 and the after market pipes were significantly larger than the stock pipes. On another note, I dont think your going to get what your looking for with the super 44 on a v6. If you want my opinion, I think you would be much happier with the 60 series delta flow, its made for 4 and 6 cylinder engines, where as the 40 series is made for 8 and the super's are made for high horsepower v8's. My friend has a 60 delta on his 6 cylinder Colorado and it sounds awesome. A guy I work with has a super 40 on his 6 cylinder s10 and it doesnt sound very good, in my opinion.

They make adapters (reducers), sold at autozone, you dont have to get it perfect. As a matter of fact, If it were me I would want my muffler inlet pipe slightly larger than the stock pipe, so it fits over the top of the stock pipe. You get a better seal and its easier to weld on, IMO.

hey everyone, got my exhaust done today and my expectations were exceeded.. i went with the 40 series 2 chamber3 inch inlet and dual 2.5 out and it sounds amazing, i was expecting that buzzsaw sound when i get on it but its that low end sound like i want and i can feel a difference in the power too. thanx for everyones advice and hopefully i will get some pics up pretty soon.. my truck is a work in progress
