Default 2006 vortex max No Oil Pressure when cold

I have a 2006 Chevy pu 6.0 Vortex max with 150k miles.
I have no oil pressure when I first start the engine.
I know it's not the gauge or sensing unit. Engine starts to knock.
If I raise rpm's to 1000, pressure will pick up.
Once engine gets hot oil pressure is running 25 to 30 psi.
At 2500 rpm pressure goes to 45 to 50 after it is hot.
I've changed the oil and filter every 3000 miles since it was new.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Change the oil pump, it sounds like it is loosing its prime. My suggestion, and if you do, make sure you prime the new one.

Was hoping for something simple.

Used to be simple, drop pan, replace pump. Odd that low mileage with a gear pump would cause issues. You do regular oil change as needed? It could be the pick screen on the pump is sludged over.

I changed the oil every 3000 miles.
Someone had already said something about the check valve being stuck.
I really don't know.
Once the oil is hot there isn't any problems.
Everything seems nomal.

How many miles on it?what oil have you been using?you might be able to get the relief valve without taking the pump off maybe some where around the harmonic balancer area on the pump housing
