Has anyone had oil consumption of at least 1 quart per 1K? I've talked with the dealership and Chevy customer service and they say it is not a problem. Per GM technical bulletin 01-06-01-011F, this is normal. I believe this should not be happening, I mean I've had cars that combined have not consumed as much oil as this truck has in the first 30K or so. Plus, per the bulletin, oil consumption can go as high as 2 quarts. This mean that anywhere between 3 and 6 quarts is "OK" in 3000 miles. I find this really hard to see as normal... Thoughts? Just a poor product and the engine replacement is too expensive? LOL...

drive 5 min to and from work change oil every 3000 to 4000 with no visual leaks makes me wonder if this is the reason why the frist owner traded in the truck. Never owned a vehicel that just eats oil.

I noticed everyone is saying they wait 5-7000 miles to change their oil with Armisol? (never heard of it) and Royal Purple. But you should change your filter more frequently. I was wondering how you were changing the filter without changing the oil. I know if boats some people drain the oil and run it through a filter then put it back in and was wondering if you were doing the same or how you did this.

Thanks

When the engine is off all of the oil is sitting in the pan so spinning off the filter will only loose the volume that is in the filter itself....

I have not read all of the posts but an item to check for oil consumption is the PCV, I have heard that if its not working correctly it can cause oil consumption...

fasterthanyou and tsduke, have you spoken to your local dealerships about getting your vehicles tested for consumption. If you take this course of action could you update me with the proceedings as well? I hope it helps you two.

Nothing wrong with mine. I was only replying that his consumption isn't normal.
