Default 2007 Silverado not getting fuel

2007 Silverado 1500 not getting fuel. I went out this morning and the truck wouldn't start. I got it started with starting fluid and the fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank level. I can hear the fuel pump prime when the key is turned on. The truck ran fine all week....

When the check valve in the fuel pump goes bad the fuel drains back into the tank making a cold start difficult. The engine will crank for much longer before it starts. If it runs after the starting fluid is sprayed in that means the fuel pump is good but the check valve isn't. You can put in a new fuel pump or add a check valve into the fuel line.

I failed to mention in my original post that the engine dies after the ether is spent. We had a cold snap last night, could there be frozen water in the fuel filter? Maybe the fuel level gauge is stuck and it is really out of gas? I will put more gas in and see what happens...

Update: I put a couple of gallons of gas in it and it fired right up. I drove it down to the station and topped off the tank and it took 22 gallons with the gauge starting at the 1/4 tank level. I guess the gauge is going bad. The truck never ran bad, (poor fuel delivery or other things). I stopped and started it several times and no problems. I am grateful the truck decided to do all this in the driveway and not on the road....
