2008 Silverado Brake lights
Need a little help here. I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L. The brake lights will not turn off and the cruise won't work due to the brake lights being on. I tried to fix this with a brake control switch that is on the brake pedal. This fixed the brake lights until I applied them. That took me back to square one. When the vehicle is turned off, the brake lights turn off. I do see there used to be a trailer brake control box, or at least the wires for one under the dash but no signs of were the box would have been. Could these wires be shorting out and causing my brake switch to burn out or could it be simpler/more complex. I am by no means a mechanic but would love some advice. Thanks in advance.
I have a similar problem. I have a 2008 colbalt sedan sport. My brake lights don't work. My running lights, blinkers and back up lights do work. My cruise control doesn't work either and I can shift from park to drive without the key on. I replaced the brake light switch and checked all fuses. I check the power at the brake light connector and only have 5 volts??? Any Ideas?
