Just purchased a 2008 Silverado Crew 4x4 LS. I was wondering if you guys have ever heard of the dealership adding the z-71 package to the truck. I get into some pretty rough terrain and am afraid the suspension that I have may not be able to handle it. I fell in love with the truck and don't want to ruin it. Also, if the dealership installs the package is it covered under a warranty. I would appreciate any and all input that you guys have.

 

Nice purchase. I wanted a 4x4 crew also but most of my dealers didn't have any new in stock and if they did the color was one I didn't want. I just got a 2wd but I don't really go anywhere but in the city since I live in southern cali so its okay. I haven't heard of adding the Z71 package to a vehicle that didn't come with it but if you want you can add the different opitions on yourself to make it to a Z71 spec. It will probably cost a little more and bring more alot more work but if you really want it then go for it. Be sure to ask your dealer though if they can that package, I could be wrong. Goodluck.

 

When I bought my 08 4x4 crew cab I had them add a skid plate. The dealer told me that the only difference between 4x4 and z71 is the suspension ( a little stiffer ) and the skid plate. Now they make z71's that are not4 wheel drive so be careful of that to. If you were doing off roadI would go with after market suspension and maybe add a small lift or leveling kit.

 

The big differance will be if you have a locking rear in your truck. The G80 comes with the Z71 package so does shocks and skid plates and differant air filter.
