Lightbulb 2010 silverado oil consumption

Hi I'm new to the forum and joined to hopefully get some help or advice on what to do. I have a 2010 silverado crewcab 4x4 with 30,000 miles , so far my truck uses aprox 1 to 1.5 quarts of oil every 1000 mi has a lifter tick on cold start up and my fuel mileage has dropped to about 12mpg avg. I have been working with my local dealer and have done the oil consumption tests, They want to start by putting a deflector in the crankcase and when that does not work they are telling me they will put new pistons and rings in my 5.3L to try to solve the problem. As an ASE master certified tech myself and long time engine builder I asked what they planned on doing to the block and I was told nothing. This goes against everything I know and does nothing towards my other concerns. Has anyone had any luck with this? So far I think this is tottally nuts and very unhappy with my first new truck, If I built an engine like this I would be out of buisness very quickly. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Should do an engine swap but they want to play around with it. I would push for them to change out engines.

Since there is no damage to the cylinder walls I bet the burr the cylinders and not hone them
Why would they when it's the piston that is the problem not the cylinders or the block

But I agree try and get a new engine.
