2012 Silverado 5.3 engine issue 250,000 miles

The other day I was driving my truck on a residential street. It suddenly shook violently and died. Last month I had a check engine light come on and I had the code scanned at Autozone. They said I needed to replace the Throttle Body assembly. The check engine light went out, later that day, so I waiting to try cleaning the throttle body. Just prior to the episode the other day the light kicked back on. I have since removed and cleaned the throttle body. I tried to start the truck and after a few attempts it did start, however only ran for a few seconds and had a rattling sound in the engine/valve area. I have spoken to a few engine shops and they all seem to think I need a new engine or for it to be rebuilt. (Full disclosure, I didn't tell them about the previous throttle body incident from last month, because in the moment I didn't think about it) I have not taken it to a shop yet because I have not decided it the $8000 price tag on a new engine plus 6 week wait time is worth it. Has anyone experience something like this? Could a bad Throttle Body Assembly be the lone issue?
Thank you,
Thank you,
