2013 6.0 vortec new guy
The 6.0L Powerstroke CAN be fixed - mainly getting it "studded" - to extend its life and reliability; but it will never hold a candle to the 7.3L it replaced. The only good thing about the trucks with the 6.0L is that Ford improved the transmissions over the older ones that came hooked to the 7.3L.
Most of the problems i had with my ford were not motor related, i did blow a turbo but the biggest issues were the brakes. But to buy a truck for 40k and have to put 1000s more into the motor so you dont have problems is a joke. That is all in my rear view now, im loving my new truck !!
Good for you!
The most important thing is not whether you drive a Blue Oval or a Bowtie; but that you are happy with it.
BTW, the 2011+ Ford 6.7L Powerstroke diesel is a pretty amazing engine. They are powerful, clean and very quiet (for a diesel anyway) and the fuel economy is very good. If you look at one up close, it looks like it is turned inside-out. The exhaust manifolds are on the inside and the intake manifolds are on the outside of the "V" area. Weird looking engine; that is for sure.
I am eager to see a 'head to head' comparison of the Ford Super Duty vs the new Silverado HD truck -- and they should test BOTH gasoline and diesel versions. Throw a Dodge in there for good measure, too.
