Default 2017 Silverado Tranny

Any thoughts:

2017 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 (75K miles)

A few days ago, started making noises, seemed to "lurch" a little, and then went into "limp home" mode. Put it into reverse to back up and wouldn't shift into reverse - engine just revved up. Finally got it home - just a few blocks. Fortunately had something else to drive - let it sit for a few days. Was able to drive it into the garage today to check the fluids on a level surface. Trans-temp registered at about 65. And the fluid level on the dipstick indicated a good level at "hot"!

Then it wouldn't go back into reverse to get it out of the garage! It's as if the trans thought it was either in Park or in Neutral. No in-between. Turned it off - let it sit awhile. Started it up after 1/2 hour or so and the trans responded! Was able to move the truck to the front of the house and the Trans-temp registered at 82 degrees.

Perplexed with Questions: Bad trans-temp sensor?

I'm too old to crawl under the truck and lose valuable grandchild time - just want to make sure I'm asking the right questions of the mechanic.

Thanks in advance.

Probably a bad TCM.
