Default 2020 Trail Boss issue

Hello all, I have a question regarding my 2020 Silverado Trail Boss, 5.3. It has 3k miles on it, and is already back at the dealership for a lifter issue. Have not heard details yet, but sounding like it is possibly a broken valve spring. Truck was misfiring and started down shifting hard as well. Is this a know issue? Possible that I bought a lemon and need to get rid of it? Any advice is appreciated

GM has had multiple problems with the cylinder deactivation systems since they were introduced in 2007/2008. Broken valve springs, collapsed lifters, and oil pump/pressure issues are among them.

That’s not to say you bought a lemon - you can certainly act on that if it meets your state’s lemon law standards - but plenty of these engines have had failures like this and are running fine after repair.

The most important thing you can do to keep the warranty valid is use the correct weight oil that meets the dexos standard and change it on schedule - I believe it’s still every 5,000 miles or at 20% oil life.
