Default 2500 HD Duramax 2011 Shocks???

I know I have a heavy truck with heave tires but the back end just shakes and vibrates. My console cup holder just shimmys!! I just put new tires on the back I am thinking about replacing the shocks next. The PO put 30k on it and I have 71k now. If I replace the shocks what should I put on?

Doesn't sound like a shock problem - I'd have the tire balance rechecked.
How does the drive shaft and u-joints look?
Factory shocks are usually cheap shocks - almost anything will be an improvement.

I am pretty sure that the new tires are not the problem did this before the new tire as well.

I did check the u joints some time ago but I do need to check them again I am glad you reminded me.

I think I might replace the rear shocks either way like you said the stock shocks are cheap.

I ordered bilstein rear shocks yesterday, when they come in I will check the driveshaft too.

You happen to have aftermarket wheels on the truck?

Ok just got them on last night. I checked the drive shaft and u joints too and they are tight.

I will have to say that it was not a night and day difference but I can tell that it helped. Mainly when I hit a bump it recovers faster and doesn't linger. I still have a shimmy not as bad when going down the highway at 70mph.

I was told to try the hard surface balance I might try to do that as well sometime soon. I will probably just go ahead and order some for the front next, those are probably in worse shape being on the heavy end of that duramax and a front replacement bumper.
