Question 4l60 to 4l80 conversion?

Looking to install a 4l80 to replace my 4l60. the 60 is gettin weak from the abuse of the 383. Anyone done this before? Would it be worth changing the trans, trans mount, tcase, shafts...or just have the 60 built up? any input would be nice

yeah i know its stronger....a lot stronger. little bit heavier but that dont bother me cuz i only weigh 6100 with my fuel transfer tank and the straight axle. but by what i have been reading the wiring kits are pretty spendy--also then have to buy a programmer. I know i have to change the input shaft on my tcase, there is an adapter to mount my case onto the 80, the trans mount can be moved to the other stock locations, because the frames are the same for both trannys. i have enough lift so i shouldnt need to shorten rear driveshaft or lengthen front shaft since they are both custom. My tranny isnt broke its just that the clutch packs are worn out and sometimes slip when im on the sled. I dont need any hard parts so it would just be a basic rebuild--about $350 with me removing and installing. I dont know i guess im kinda stuck between a rock and hard place. I guess i just would like some input from people who have or know someone who has done this before and get a ballpark cost.

I couldn't tell you a cost or nothin like that so i'm sorry on that one lol but its worth the cost, whatever it may be. If you wheel pretty hard then i'd say do it, just so you wont have to go through replacin parts inside the 60e or have a cracked shell

yeah thats kinda what im worried about after readin about these 383's the trans is the next to go--dont matter if rest of truck stock or not. my tranny was a gm reman about 20k before i bought the truck---thats been 5 years and 120k ago havent touched the tranny havent even had to flush fluids. shes just startin to get sloppy I guess i was more or less weighin my options for future refrence

yessir...if you don't have to yet then I'd say don't worry bout it but if it's starting to get a lil sloppy, you might wanna start lookin around for what all is needed

yeah thats the plan---trust me when i break things on this truck i break em good--when i blew my first rear end there was no ring or pinion left cuz they blew my cover off all thanks to the "time bomb" and yes it was. blew the engine and toasted all the main bearings--blew the front end and it locked solid. so im sure the tranny will be a good experience ha
