4L60E issues at 40 MPH when outdoor temp is 65+

4L60E issues at 40 MPH when outdoor temp is 65+
2000 Silverado auto 4L60E
When outdoor temp is 65 and above.
While in D the Transmission surges around 40 mph. Stops surging when speed is 45 +/- or when under 38 +/-
If I drive around 40 mph while in 3 it does not surge and In the fall & winter it does not surge at all when I drive in D
Any info why and suggestions how a do it yourselfer might be able to fix??
