87 350 tbi wont restart

Default 87 350 tbi wont restart

i,m a new member and need some help i just picked up a 87 v20 4x4 for a mud toy every line on the truck was rusted out, put a fuel cell in the bed with a 140 gph fuel pump new lines,filter and rebuild the tbi, wont start unless i dump fuel in it stays running but when i shut it of it wont restart without dumping fuel in the tbi, the pump puts out 15 psi i have the return line in and working, runs great when running but just wont restart, anyone know whats going on, i,m stumped.

dump the factory carb/tbi/tfi and get a holley

When you shut off the engine and the fuel pump stops the fuel pressure drops and the fuel bleeds back into the tank. The check valve in the pump is bad. You can either change the pump or add an inline check valve.

well the fuel pump is new so i guess i,l try a check valve first, thanks for the reply, rusty

did you use the old fuel pump wiring or splice it in somewhere? the old fuel pump is wired to the ECM which tells it to pump for a few seconds when you turn the key. do you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on? if not then you need to check your wiring because the pump needs that signal from the ECM...
