Default 97-1500 won't fully shift between 2 and 4 hi???

I'm out of town working and before I left I had a problem. The truck seems to shift between the the 2 fine but there is now noise coming from the front end. It's not a grinding as far as I can tell. Kinda sounds like loud road noise. Any ideas? I want to get an idea what to look for because I only got Sunday to look at it.I spose it could be as simple as a dry transfer case. This happened once before but popped in when I hit a bump

Oh, heck.

Sorry Pard, I read your post wrong. Are you getting the "Service 4x4" message?
