i just got a 97 chevy and i was wondering what would be the best way the get more power and fuel economy but also what could use beefing up from the stock truck and what are common thing to go wrong with them besides the fuel pump

 

is it v6 or v8? if v8, change out the fuel injection "spider" unit. replace with mfi conversion spider. stock unit is problem prone to leaking, new unit is not. far better piece. takes bout 3-5 hours, easy job. here's the new unit from oreilly's auto parts. you'll need the bracket that's listed just above it as well as intake gaskets.
