98 4.3 K1500 with bad tranny, will 03 4.8 tranny work???

98 4.3 K1500 with bad tranny, will 03 4.8 tranny work???
My dad has 3 trucks, 08 Sierra 1500 4x4 4.8, 03 Silverado 1500 4x4 4.8, and 98 K1500 4x4 4.3. He was going to sell the 98 to get a 2500. I drove the truck the other day and the transmission was slipping, while the parents are on vacation. My dad was wondering if the 03 transmission would work in the 98, then buy a new one for the 03 instead of buying a new one for the 98 to sell. Any ideas????
