Default ABS Light

My ABS light keeps coming on and off. I think its either a bad sensor or a bad wheel hub bearing. Would the abs light come on if it was the break pads or rotters or would that trigger the brake dash light? The breaks feel fine and I don't hear any noise when driving. I don't have a diagnostic scanner so I'm looking for a little insight before I replace the bearings. Thanks

pads/rotors-no. see if an auto parts store has a scanner to try or a friend at the dealer? you really should scan before replacing parts with ABS system...

Hi BDS,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

Follow the wires by your hub bearings to the ABS sensors on your front wheels.
You may just need to rinse off the mud and snow.

I had the same issue... ended up being a pinch and break in the ABS wire after I installed my lift kit. I had to splice in re rout it. Good to go now.

Make sure you clean grounding wires and frame under drivers door outside frame looking forward. Had same problem on both my 99 and 01 silverados 4x4's. Good place to start

Default abs light comes on and e brake light also

on my 1997 k1500 4x4 abs light stays on. The parking brake light just started to stay on. It makes a horrible noise when braking. Just replaced pads less than 3 months ago.. No check engine light on and no codes on code reader.
