Yesterday the speeds 1-4 went out on my AC/Heater fan. Speed 5 still works fine. Is this something I can fix myself?

Same thing just happened to my 99. Blower motor resistor. Would be willing to bet you need a blower motor and cabin filter, too. All easy to get to. A service manual will walk you thru it. Well worth the money.

A blower motor either works or doesnt . If it works on 5 and not the other speeds, the motor is doing its job, its the blower module/resistor that regulates the fan speeds its right next to the motor...I sell at least 3 a week at the dealer I work at .

 

Blower motor resistor is bad.... replace it and you will be fine

 

Thanks for the replies, I resolved the problem a few day's after I posted this . . . . I traded in the truck on a 2007 Silverado. Long story short, this was the straw that broke the camels back.

My new resistor/switch works just fine!!!
