active fuel management disgust
have 09 z71 excab with 5.3 auto with 3.73 gear. had 02 same truck. I would trade the new one for the old. 02 truck was great. ran smooth, trans did'nt have to hunt for gear, pulled great! bought what I thought was same truck with a few more horses. boy was I wrong! gets 3mpg less all around and is like driving a 6 cyl when pulling boat. constantly changing to lower gear. dealership says it's the afm and nothing can be done to correct. they say they have many same complaints. went to other dealer and get exact same info. upon asking about computer change to disconnect, am told will void warranty. the people that came up with this must have never compared it with the old and never pulled a load with it. total disgust. next stop toyota.
Pretty sure if you get the right programmer you can turn the AFM off... At least that's the way the Hemis and their MDS work? Stupid that you'd have to spend another $300-$400 to have your truck work the way you want it... I'm sure you're spending enough on your payment as is :/
