Actuator? 1988 4.3 V6 Sierra

Actuator? 1988 4.3 V6 Sierra
Question, I have a 1988 Sierra SLE 4.6l V6. 4x4 low works, 4x4 high works but disengaged automatically after driving a few min. Located the actuator heated up the truck, Im thinking the actuator is bad as 4x4 works fine and will not disengage? No flashing light on the link indicator. Suggestions.
