I bought an 02 chevy silverado 1500 4.3. It is the work truck model and did not come with cruise control. I didn't think it would be a big deal but now that I've gone without it a few months, I'm rethinking that. lol From what I've read, this may just be a simple plug and play modification involving a new mutlifunction switch, cruise module, and cable. Is this true, if not is this possible and if so what do I need? I am mechanically capable of doing this, I just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the response. I do have a question about the parts you bought. Did you go pull them from a junk yard or get them online, ebay..? I know that I need the multi function switch and the module - but i've also seen references for a cruise control "servo". Is this just the cable part of the module? I just don't want to order the wrong parts.

 

mine was an S10 so not 100% sure if it's the same... the cable connects to servo as well as the module, which screws to it..but screws break..

 

I think I need the cruise module with the cable attached and the other end of the cable will connect next to the accelerator cable at the throttle body? There's a round plastic piece that the accelerator cable is connected to and it appears that there is a place for another cable. Can anyone confirm this?

 

yes that is correct. remember the "module" attaches(piggyback) to the servo, at least on the s10 v6's and is mounted at the upper left(drivers side) corner of the firewall.

it is! underhood takes 20-30 minutes, hell, even the mounting spots are impressioned for quick drilling! dash-probably 1-2 hrs.
