What causes my truck to have no go when I push the gas after I get done washing it. Every time this seems to happen! I go to pull out of the car wash and push on the gas and it takes a few minutes for my truck to respond! This usually continues for about 20 minutes after I continually run my truck after washing it. It is really embarrassing!

what year model is your truck?
You may be getting water on the plug wires and they are cross-firing or arcing to the engine also possible the distributor cap is cracked and moisture is getting in to the cap....
may want to try spraying WD-40 on the cap and wires to see if it improves
if so it may be time for replacements...

 

if it were me i would be going around the whole truck and putting dielectric grese on every wire that has to do with the engine that doesnt have a weather tite plug

What's the year and mileage of your truck?

I think we can all rule out a fuel problem on this one.

If you followed the above suggestions and had no success, I've got an idea which borders on the edge of ridonculous. The only reason I bring it up is that 20 minutes is about the time it would take to a paper filter element to dry with the engine running. Do you have an open air filter element or a Cold Air Intake which may be getting exposed to water when you wash your truck?

 

therewolf good point or at least maybe getting partially wet and restricting full flow

 

thanks everyone for your input! I'll have to try those suggestions! My truck is a 2002 so i would hope that it's nothing very technical, but with the guy who owned it before me i'm afraid it may be! he was harsh on it!

o and yes i have K&N Cold air intake on it! i'll take these suggests down to my dad next time i'm at his shop!
