its an 04 with the 4.3 in it the gauge is autometer ultralite. it need to tap into the powertrain control module wire that leads to the o2 sensor. i have no clue what that module is or where i can find it

IMO the narrowband cheapy ones are more for looks. but thats ok for some.
wideband is the only way to go unless your just leaving everything all stock and no type of tune adjustments. powertrains control module (PCM) is your ECU, computer ECM whatever you wanna call it. i cant find the page i had with the pinout for them or i would link you to it. you may be better off tapping directly to the 02 sensor itself by tracing back the wire rather than chopping into the factory ECU harness. you can pick any of the upsrtream (pre cat)sensors, dont use the post cat sensors.

what is a pre cast sensor and a post cast sensor. i figured i would just tap into the o2 sensor. but i have like 4 wires going to it and im not sure witch one will give me my reading. i thought about tapping into all of them at once. but that might screw up all my readings to my ecu.

pre cat - are before the catalaytic converter(s) post cat are after. you want one before a cat. dont do one at a time, if you tap into the positive heater wire you will smoke the gauge. i cant remember what colors do what, ill see what i can find. or maybe someone else will chime in that knows which color wire.

Well 2 wires are for the heater in the O2 and 2 are for the signal ( in & out) you need to find the out signal, if you tap into the heater line it might fry your guage. I will look in a little bit if someone does not tell you which one it is before me.
O I see racerx55 just said that,...
