Default Blue smoke

Now I have done research and know that blue smoke at start up indicates oil getting into the cylinders through valve seals or guides. I have also looked at some saying that if you rev it up going down the road and let off of it there should be a high vacuum situation and should smoke as well. I see the smoke at start up but I get none revving up and letting off the gas. Also any other inquiries to the blue smoke would be great as well.

Yes blue smoke is an indication that oil is being burned. The 2 most likely places it could be from are the valve guide seals or the piston rings.

I get no blue smoke while driving what so ever. Only at start up and it only lasts maybe 10 seconds or so after the truck is started.

Dont worry about it . Its old and a little extra lube never hurt nobody. Honestly though yes you are burning a touch of oil at start up but what year truck do you have?

Yeah bud, you got an 85 with 150,000 miles. Even though its pretty low miles for that old of a truck, I wouldn't worry yourself of a little oil burn at start up.

pull a plug out and inspect it. if it has a build up on the center electrode, its the valve guide seals.
