heard a ticking/knocking noise coming from the crankshaft area a couple weeks ago. neighbor(retired mechanic) told me to put lucas oil stabilizer in the oil pan and substitute it for a quart of oil. noise went away for a couple days and is now back. kind of concerned. called dealer today and was told it could be a rod knock. has anyone had this problem before. i have an 04 silverado 1500 4wd 5.3L

 

you cant stop a rod knock without pulling the engine to pull the pan. its an annoying problem to have and unfortunatey a pain in the rear.

 

hopefully its not then because i work construction 5 days a week til 330 and dont have the time. but im going to take it in next weekend and my warranty will hopefully cover it. and hopefully they can give me a loaner vehicle.
