brake problems on my 1998 chevy silverado
Nah, air in the lines and the brakes would be grabby and lock up too easy. Because you cant compress fluid but you can compress air, the brakes would grab as the air and fluid shift in position against the wheel cylinder or caliper pistons.

Agree with master cylinder. I have had 2 cars with those symptoms and a new master cylinder fixed it. Be sure to bench bleed it properly if you get a new one.
