can i go 1 tire size bigger?
I have a 04 silverado Z71 4x4 5.3. I have 265/75-16 tires and I want to buy BFG ALL TERRIAN 285/75-16and do not havea lift kit or body lift. I have heard many different stories that 1 tire size bigger will not hurt and some say it will cause rear end damage. any advice??

Well lets see. If you runthe numbers(http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoTireMath.dos)you'll find that you'll beincreasing your tire diameter from 31.7" to 32.8". Depending how much room you have in your front wheel well, it'll probably rub when you turn a corner. This should be fixableby trimming some plastic off of the fenders in the front andthe tire store wouldlikely do this for you. I've never heard of the possibility for rear end damage. I think that's pretty unlikely given that a lot of people add lifts and go up way more than an inch in tire diameter without doing anything to the rear end.
