chalky spots on hood
i have these chalky spots on the hood of my 06 1500HD after i wash it or after it rains. i have waxed the hood several times but the chalky debris keeps coming back after a few days. the hood is very shiny and it looks like a mirror when finished.there are also some spots on the hood that i cant get off and and this is where the chalky substance appears they turn chalky on the outside of the spot. any help is appreciated

sounds like oxidation, which wax won't remove. you need to use a rubbing compound, then a polishing compound, then wax. oxidation occurs from sitting in the weather. mainly sunlight. wax only puts a protective coating on the surface, the rubbing compound cuts thru the chalky stuff, polishing compound brings the shine back. you can use an electric orbital buffer, or by hand. Meguiar's makes some really good products, available at most auto parts stores.
