Default Check engine light?

brought my truck in for inspection this month, well my check engine light has been on and the guy at the garage says it has something to do with my emissions, I guess it has a leak somewhere, has anyone run into this, my truck is a leftover 2006, but the old body style, I had one guy tell me it might be my gas cap? any help would be great,

X2 that needs to be posted. If you have an autozone or such, they can read the code for you.

my local Autozone did a scan for me, they said it was p0442, or a evap, Emission Control Systems Leak, I replaced the gas cap so I'll have to what else it could be,

stab in the dark without being able to look at it, evap vent solenoids and canisters like to get filled with dirt other than that you have to look for leaks or get ahold of a scanner or wiring diagrams to test the purge/vent solenoids
