Default check gauges light wont cut off

my 96 1500 has had the check gauges light on since i bought it 3 months ago.my buddy hooked up his scanner tool and everything came back good. I have good oil pressure plenty of gas, a brand new battery, and its not overheating what else could i be missing that would cause this light to stay on. Its been driving me crazy trying to figure this out. any feedback would be appreciated.

what codes did your buddy's scanner pull? if the light is on, there's a reason for it.

Well there weren't any codes. It's not the same as the 'check engine light its another one that says check gauges' light that won't turn off. I heard it turns on if you're low on gas, overheating, etc

ok, so all the gauges appear to be reading normal and good? low voltage reading, high temp, low or no oil pressure. these all will set off the check gauge. it supposed to go out when all is well. if it's not, and all is good, you may want a shop to look at. might be ecm issue.

Do not use thicker oil. If the pressure gauge reads good then that is not why it is on. Maybe the cluster is bad.
